The Kenya Dispatch
Team Letter | June 17, 2024
In June 2024, I traveled with my family to Kenya, just a few days after a huge podcast episode featuring us launched, requiring everyone on the team to learn to do sales demos really quickly. It was a turning point moment in our team, when more people learned that they could do some BIG things in the company when needed!

Happy Monday from Kenya, Alpaca!!!
WOW – who knew that Cult of Pedagogy was going to make for a record breaking sales week for Alpaca last week!!!!!
Huge props and love to Kaitlynn and Alissa who jumped in, learned how to demo, and bravely took on sales demos this week, resulting in proposals and quotes submitted and sales pending! Incredible work, all of you!
Today starts my time in Kenya, where I’ll be in touch as much as I can be each morning that I have connectivity. (My morning is about 2 am your time, so I’ll schedule my dispatches for the mornings!) In the meantime, here are a few guidelines:
SALES Stuff: Alexander O'Neill will be checking in with the team and with sales activities three times each day (morning, noon, and evening). If you have questions, need help with a proposal, need help with a demo, anything at all – he’s your guy! He’s keeping track of deals and helping everything stay on track. THANK YOU for your continued help in keeping these leads toasty warm and moving them through the pipeline!
PACK Stuff: I know we’re not fully totally ordered on all pack supplies for Back to School, but I think we’re on a good path. For the next couple of weeks, please try to focus on the following:
Packaging: Kaitlynn, I’m going to put you in touch with David Diaz to get the packaging designs moving, estimates done, and everything set for that order. I think we have time, but we should keep things going.
BTS Totes: Kaitlynn Kool, if you can keep this moving with Regal, that would be great. Please plan to order 4,500.
BTS Supplies: Alissa and Kaitlynn, if you two can focus efforts and energy in the following ways, that would be amazing:
1st Priority: Design of branded materials, specifically Celebration Notes and any/all inserts or activities that we would like to include.
2nd Priority: Order a few items to create a prototype/example pack. This will help us see what we still need, what everything looks like in the pack, and how we can fill in to make it AWESOME.
3rd Priority: Double/Triple check that we have the right numbers for our BTS packs and prioritize getting our FULL schools list, with addresses, ready for the fall
4th Priority: Gather ideas and pricing for any items that we haven’t ordered yet that we might order. I think since we have Crayola and the snacks ordered, that’s the most time sensitive. Everything else can be accomplished in early July and still be here in plenty of time for BTS Packout.
CUSTOMER SUCCESS Stuff: We may have some onboarding, and/or some conversations to have with existing customers that we want to warm up and make sure are on board for the fall! Alissa Christensen I’ll be in touch on some ideas there!
Okay, let us know how things are going over there – we can’t wait to hear from you!
Let’s get out there and do BIG BIG things, Alpaca!
♥️, KB
